I am Dr. Mikaela Rodriguez, a psychiatrist at Mindful Health Northwest. Originally from Alaska, I have called the Pacific Northwest home since 2016. After growing up in Alaska I migrated south to Claremont, California for my undergraduate studies at Scripps College where I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biology in 2008. After a year of teaching in Southeast Asia on Fulbright fellowship, and a few more years of living in Alaska, I moved out to Vermont for four years of medical school. 

In 2016, I moved back to the Pacific Northwest for four years of psychiatry residency training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). After graduating, I stayed on as faculty, practicing for three years in OHSU’s Adult Psychiatry Clinic before joining Mindful Health Northwest in the summer of 2023. 

I offer medication management, psychotherapy, and comprehensive psychiatric consultations (including ADHD evaluations). Most of my medication management appointments are an hour in length and include some discussion of non-pharmacologic treatment approaches (e.g., lifestyle changes, behavioral changes, sleep habits, mindfulness, exercise, psychotherapy, and more), individually tailored to meet each client’s goals.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic and draws from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, non-violent communication, gradual exposure, and executive functioning training for ADHD, among other modalities.
