About Me:
I became a psychiatrist because I care about people’s stories, knowing that each one is unique and tells the tale of who we are today.
It is that passion that caused me to leave rural Ohio, where I am from, and begin my educational journey. I first completed undergraduate studies at Ohio State University before attending medical school at Wright State University, graduating with membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. I then started my residency training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where I completed 3 years before returning to Wright State University during a time of family need to complete my final year of residency.
Before joining Mindful Health Northwest, I lived in Portland while working remotely for Wright State University’s Department of Psychiatry as their Associate Program Director. My role included supervising clinical care and teaching psychiatry residents. I have worked in clinics with focus on those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, college mental health, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychosis. I also have a special interest in climate change and how it impacts mental health; I have authored several textbook chapters, developed curricula and presented at several national conferences on the topic.
I approach your psychiatric care with intention and a focus on holistic medicine tailored to your situation. Evidence-based education, management and therapy are important parts of my practice, but generally coincides with an emphasis on behavioral and lifestyle changes. I utilize techniques from multiple therapy techniques to assist, including aspects from Psychodynamic, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Behavioral Therapy, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) modalities. Throughout your treatment, I aim to maintain a safe environment with compassion, respect and empathy to help us explore challenges and implement changes together. Our goal is to help you lead a life you find meaningful.
During my personal time, I enjoy exploring the natural wonders of our world through backpacking, paddling, and traveling, in addition to reading most genres, listening to music, cooking and spending time with my community.
